The income voluntary service in Lübeck is organised by Schüler*innen Helfen Leben (SHL) on behalf of its European umbrella organisation SAME.

SAME stands for ‘Solidarity Action Day Movement in Europe’. The movement includes several European youth organizations which carry out an annual Solidarity Action Day. On this day, pupils work in a job of their choice instead of going to school. Their earnings support youth projects around the world. By offering learning possibilities and spreading the concept of the Solidarity Action Day, SAME empowers young people to get informed, take a stand and act.

Since 2018, SHL and SAME have worked together in a shared office in Lübeck, Northern Germany. Their joint programme connects young people from across Europe through the Solidarity Action Day and gives them the chance to experience Europe, learn from each other, and help shape a more united and fair society.

As a volunteer, you’ll become part of our international team based in Lübeck. Together, we work to spread the Solidarity Action Day to even more countries and strengthen its impact by organising international youth exchanges, trainings, and seminars. With your ideas and energy, we’ll continue building bridges and bringing young people from all over Europe together!

On the following pages, you’ll find detailed descriptions of the volunteer roles as well as all important information about the programme and the application process.
