SHL Kosova offers young people in the municipality of Rahovec/Orahovac a variety of activities based on the principles of multiculturalism, cooperation and equality. The offers are intended to support the assumption of responsibility and the participation of young people in the public life of the town and to promote skills such as creativity and self-initiative.

Although peace has officially existed in Kosovo since 1999, there are still conflicts between the population groups. Initiatives for conflict resolution and reconciliation have not brought the desired success. As a result, the conditions for a peaceful and tolerant society consisting of different population groups are not in place. The situation in Kosovo is particularly worrying for young people: The educational system is divided into a Kosovo-Albanian and a Serbian part, and it is estimated that 50-70 % of young people are unemployed.
The focus of the work takes place in the youth center, which consists of two spatially separate areas: a house built by SHL in the Albanian part and rented rooms in the Serbian part of the city. At both locations, young people can meet outside of school and participate in various leisure activities, e.g. sports, music and art, take language and computer courses and hold discussion groups. Above all, however, young people are offered a space to get actively involved and to stand up for their needs and concerns.
A further focus is on vocational preparation for young people: they are supported in preparing CVs and job applications and, if they are self-employed, are also assisted in finding financial backers* and in drawing up business plans.
The center is the only youth center in the community where young people can meet. Through joint activities from both parts of the youth center, a multicultural exchange of Serbian and Kosovar Albanian youth is created, who meet and get to know each other.
