Kosovar Youth Council (KYC)
As in other countries in the region, the rights of young people in Kosovo are still insufficiently anchored and represented. Here, too, they are not seen as competent partners and lobbyists in their own cause.
In addition, the Republic of Kosovo has only been an independent state since 2008 and civil society actors have accordingly had less time to become involved as such.
Since September 2017, the LSV in Kosovo has been one of the youth-led partner organizations of Schüler Helfen Leben in addition to the LSV in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.
With the support of the organization “Kosovar Youth Council (KYC)”, students of the “Kosova Student Council (KSC)” stand up for their rights in this project. Fundamental to this are above all stable structures within the organization.
This project enables monthly meetings of the youth leadership committee as well as the annual general meeting and the development of an alumni network. To ensure that the voice of the students* is heard outside the organization, the KYC strives to cooperate with the Kosovo Ministry of Education.
The “KYC” was already founded in 1999 in a refugee camp in Albania, so it is much older than the Republic of Kosovo, just like the “KSC”, which was founded in 2005.
