By offering seminars, young people in Sarajevo and the surrounding rural areas are given the opportunity to stand up for their own rights and goals, and thus in a long-term perspective become strong advocates for an open, democratic and peaceful society.

Our Sarajevo office is a key player in the field of youth education, youth policy and youth engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Every year, the ten local staff members, together with volunteers and multipliers, reach thousands of young people from dozens of cities and rural communities across the country.
With the broad youth education programme, they also reach the more rural parts of the country: The “Stand Up”, “Power Up” and “Move On” seminars motivate young people with and without prior experience to stand up for their rights and goals in the still ethnically segregated country and thus contribute to building a democratic and peaceful society. The focus is always on youth engagement: the participants develop concrete solutions for urgent problems of young people in their home communities and implement them directly. Every year, about 20 seminars are offered for up to 400 youths and young adults. Some of the seminars take place outside Sarajevo in order to provide access for young people from rural areas. Most of the seminars, however, take place in the SHL House in Sarajevo.
The education programme supports local youth organisations that offer a platform for committed young people to stand up for their rights and for a democratic society. The explicit focus is on issues that concern young people and that they want to address on their own responsibility.
