In the project “Girls take the Mic”, girls and young women from rural regions of Serbia take part in a series of workshops that give them the skills and self-confidence to actively participate in society and make their voices heard.

Organization for Promoting Activism (OPA)
In a societal climate where young people are generally not perceived as players in their own right, girls and young women from rural areas in Serbia have even less opportunity to speak out confidently and become active. The lack of role models, especially for young women, has a discouraging effect. It is therefore important to open up opportunities and create role models!
In “Girls take the Mic”, the participants of the project will go through five workshops over several days, learning how to organise actions and events, how to speak and persuade in public, and how to engage others in the process. In addition, monthly meetings will be held with the participants, meetings with local decision-makers will be organised, and a panel discussion and media appearances will be facilitated.
The participants will organise a concert at the end of the project and hold a peer education workshop to inspire more girls and young women with the idea of “Rock Camps for Girls”.
