Don't shut up - your opinion counts!
A Bosnian-German youth exchange exploring the freedom of speech throughout history
Summer ahead and no plans for the time from 7th to 18th of July? Then join our trip, when German and Bosnian youngsters share twelve days together in Berlin and Sarajevo exploring the freedom of expression! Take part and share your words!
Nowadays we are used to be free and able to do everything we want. There is no one who can forbid us to go out somewhere, to say something and to write about something in particular.
But can you imagine how this looked like during World War II or the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina? How the press freedom and freedom of expression were respected during this time and how life looked like in Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina?
That's what we want to discover with you!
Here we go: On the 7th of July we will travel to Berlin together with 10 Bosnian and 10 German youngsters. This city was the headquarters during World War II. At almost every corner you'll see the history: the Berlin Wall, the Holocaust Memorial, sights you may know from TV. Here we will stay for six days.
On 13th July we will fly together to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city was sieged more than 1000 days during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995.
Discover with us one of the most beautiful cities in the Western Balkans and explore its stories!
The exchange ends on 18 July - of course we will take you back again!
We will walk in the footsteps of the past and of shedding light how the 19 Articles of the Charter of Human Rights, the press and freedom of expression, has been treated in these wars. For this we will visit museums and talk to witnesses to explore the city and the people around us.
During the trip we want to design a little magazine with you, where we express our impressions and report on our experiences. You are the investigator, journalist and interview partner – create your own magazine. But don’t worry: You don’t have to be a perfect journalist!
We will have enough time to practice writing and expand your knowledge in the field of media as we are visiting newspapers and a TV station for example.
So, you are between 16 and 18 years old, speaking English, are interested in human rights and journalism and would like to spend a great time with peers in two European capitals?
Just go ahead and login!
