Foundation SHL supports and partners with projects aimed at children and youths. We motivate youths in post-war societies to become activists for democracy and peace. Another goal of Foundation SHL is to foster the integration of ethnic minorities into the societies they live in. Our target group is children, youths and young people between the ages of 4 and 30 years.
Currently, Foundation SHL supports several projects in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. Foundation SHL also launched their own projects in Southeastern Europe where we employ locals as well as young volunteers from Germany who spend their international voluntary service year there. Those projects are Foundation SHL Sarajevo, the SHL House Sarajevo and SHL Youth center Kosovo.
Since 2013, when the civil war in Syria started, Foundation SHL has been supporting projects in Syria and Jordan. Aiming at improving the lives and future perspectives of young people who were forced to leave Syria, the projects mainly focus on educational activities for Syrian refugees in Jordan and for children and youths still living in Syria.
